According to L’Equipe PSV are interested in signing Turkish international Mevlut Erding, who is currently with French side Sochaux.

PSV are thinking about signing Mevlut Erding as replacement for Peruvian hit-man Jefferson Farfan. The Dutch giants sold their prolific striker to Schalke’04 for about ten million euros.

The youngster was promoted from the Sochaux academy in 2005 and has made 42 league appearances so far. Erding was last year’s club topscorer making 11 goals. The striker’s contract with Sochaux expires in 2009.

Mevlut Erding has dual nationality and played for France under 21 before eventually choosing for Turkey. The 21-year-old attacker made four international appearances so far. The highlight of his international career was coming on as a second-half substitute in the EURO 2008 semi-final against Germany.

At just 69kg he is something of a lightweight player, but what he lacks in build he makes up for in pace and trickery.
