Torino President Urbano Cairo has revealed that Alberto Paloschi was all set to move to the Granata on loan until Milan scrapped the deal at the eleventh hour.
The 18-year-old Paloschi, who burst onto the Italian scene last season, had been on the verge of moving to Torino on a season-long loan deal.
The transfer was all set to be completed yesterday, until a serious injury in training to Marco Borriello at the weekend plunged Milan into something of a forward crisis.
With Pippo Inzaghi also sidelined, and Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato going to the Olympics, Cairo has revealed that Milan will not release Paloschi for the time being.
“We already had a formal agreement with Milan for Paloschi,” Cairo told SportItalia.
“When he was in the Czech Republic with the Under-19 side all that was missing was his signature.
“But yesterday Adriano Galliani called me after the injury to Marco Borriello to put the brakes on the deal. He said that they would rather keep hold of him, at least for the moment.
“We have an excellent relationship with Milan. In the next few days we will see whether we are still looking for Paloschi or another striker.”
Torino have already signed Italy Under-21 international Ignazio Abate in a co-ownership deal from Milan this summer.
