Iniesta Enjoying Barcelona Changes

Andrés Iniesta has said that he is enjoying the new emphasis on hard work that Pep Guardiola has introduced before stating that he would like Samuel Eto'o to stay.

Iniesta Enjoying Barcelona Changes

The Barça midfielder joined the Blaugrana squad in Scotland after being an extended holiday and he has been pleasantly surprised by the new way of doing things.

Following Frank Rijkaard's idea to place technique over physical fitness, the Barça squad are now doing their toughest pre-season regime for some years, according to reports.

"When things go badly it is necessary to change them. I am sure they will now improve if we continue with the way that we have started," Iniesta said.

"If things are not going well then there must be a reason. We have a culture of hard work and since the first day of pre-season the changes have been in place and the work is hard, but good."

Iniesta then reflected on reports that Eto'o could be leaving the club this summer and does not think that it would be a wise move to let the striker go.

"He is one of the best three players in his position in the world. As a friend and a team-mate I always want him to play alongside me," the 24-year-old said.

"I hope that he stays with us, although that is beyond out control. I do not know what he is thinking. I would like him to be here, but I am sure that whatever happens it will be for the best."

Finally, Iniesta was asked about the Lionel Messi controversy and whether he should stay with Barcelona or join the Argentina squad for the Olympic Games in the summer.

"It is not something we can do anything about and I do not know what will happen in the end. Speaking from a personal point of view I would like him to stay, but there are rules and regulations to sort all this out," he added.
