Kuyt: Keane? Bring Him To Anfield

Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt is apparently unperturbed by the possible signing of Robbie Keane from Tottenham, insisting that he'd welcome the Republic of Ireland forward at Anfield...

Buoyed after a fine showing at Euro 2008 in an Oranje shirt, Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt is clearly brimming with confidence.

The Dutchman showed great versatility for Marco van Basten's side, getting in on the goals whilst playing a deeper role than he would perhaps prefer.

Perhaps having proven his flexibility to himself in an international team filled with attacking talent, unworried Kuyt is now calling for reported Reds target Robbie Keane to be brought to Anfield.

Speaking of the Tottenham skipper's touted switch to Merseyside, Kuyt told the Liverpool Echo: "Keane has played for many years in the Premier League and he has done really well with Spurs and is a massive player for them.

"We all know how well he did for Spurs last season and if he could do the same for us if he came here he would be a great signing.

"When you are at a club like Liverpool you expect the club to be linked with top players and of course you want players like Keane because they can come in and do a good job.

"It would make competition for places even tougher, but that's the way it should be because it brings out the best in you."

Kuyt also hinted that the Liverpool players are in the same boat as the fans in terms of what to expect during the remainder of the summer.

"We are always looking at the papers to try and find out what is going on and we expect a few more signings."
