Olivier Dacourt has shrugged off Milan’s impressive transfer campaign, and declared that Inter are the “best” team in Italy.
Milan have been making waves this summer after signing the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Marco Borriello, Gianluca Zambrotta, and of course Ronaldinho.
Inter meanwhile have been relatively quiet in the transfer market, capturing just Amantino Mancini so far. Despite their lack of activity, Dacourt is certain that the Nerazzurri, fresh from their third successive Scudetto, are the team to beat in Serie A this coming campaign.
“You can talk about the Rossoneri making a great signing [in Ronaldinho], but if you don’t win anything then you have failed,” he said from the club’s pre-season training camp in Brunico.
“The derby will be a great game because both sides will be trying to prove that they are better.
“However, we won the title last year and so we can say that we are the best.”
Dacourt is back in training after missing most of last term with a torn cruciate ligament in his knee. In total the 33-year-old made just nine Serie A appearances, six of them starts.
The Frenchman joined Inter from Roma in 2006, having previously starred for Leeds, Lens, Everton and Strasbourg.
