Recoba Set For Brazilian Move?

Former Inter luxury Alvaro Recoba could be set to return to South America for the first time in 11 years, with reports in Italy and Brazil suggesting that he could move to Internacional.

Recoba

El Chino joined Inter way back in 1997, and made his debut for the club on the same day as Ronaldo, overshadowing El Fenomeno with two wonder goals in a 2-1 win over Brescia.

The Uruguayan was then tipped for great things, but despite his stunning ability and magical left foot, he never really fulfilled his potential.

Recoba spent last season on loan at Torino but did not remain after a disappointing campaign. The 31-year-old’s contract at Inter expired at the end of June, and he has now left the club after not being offered a new contract.

Now a free agent, Recoba is looking for a new club, and there are reports that Brazilian-outfit Internacional, Alexandre Pato’s former club, want to sign the free-kick specialist.

Recoba is expected to travel to Brazil over the next few days to discuss the move with Internacional President Vittorio Piffero. The forward is hoping to win his place back in the Uruguay national team ahead of the 2010 World Cup.
