Keane: More Signings Imminent

Keane: More Signings Imminent
Since their promotion to the top tier last year Sunderland have employed an aggressive transfer policy in the following summer window. One year on and this summer is no different...

Black Cats boss Roy Keane has been busy these past few weeks sealing deals that would bring Pascal Chimbonda, Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio, El-Hadji Diouf, David Meyler, and Nick Colgan, all to the club. On those six players £15million has been spent, but according to the former Manchester United hardman, that is still not enough as he looks to bring in even more faces.

There has been constant speculation linking Celtic's Aiden McGeady with a move south of the border, while Mikael Silvestre, David Healy, and Anton Ferdiand have also been put forth as possible Keane signins.

The Sunderland manager is quoted by Setanta Sports as saying: "There's been lots of speculation and we've been linked with hundreds of players and I don't think we'll be signing all of them."

He added: "If we sign any decent players we'll release a statement, but there's no point me talking about players who might or might not be coming to the football club. We've made good progress over the last day or two and I hope we have some news over the next 48 hours.

"We've made some great offers for players and good deals with clubs. If players want to come and we can take them to another level, fantastic, but if they want to stay at the clubs they're at, good luck to them, it's not a major problem."

He continued: "I'm not looking to let any players go, but if an offer comes in, like every other manager I've got to balance the books. I've heard managers say certain players aren't for sale, trust me, if the price is right then everybody is for sale."

Roy Keane has been outspoken in the past concerning players who have rejected the chance to move to the north east, citing WAGS who want to live in England's major cities as the cause. He believes the footballer's career is the priority.
