After watching Chelsea brush-aside FA Cup winners Portsmouth, Ryan Giggs admitted that the Stamford Bridge outfit look like they have a hunger for glory...
Ryan Giggs knows a lot about hunger. Not only is he the most decorated player in the current Manchester United squad, having won the Premier League ten times, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice, the Champions League twice, the Uefa Super Cup once and the Intercontinental Cup once, he also holds the record for most appearances in a United shirt.
The Welsh winger is never content on resting on his laurels, and continues to push himself for further honours. So when he recognises that same drive in another team, you know he is speaking the truth.
He told Sky Sports: "They [Chelsea[ didn't win the Premier League last year. I've been in that position where you've not win it. You're hungry and determined, and you want to win it, simple as that."
On how he and his team-mates can counter this, he said: "We've got to match their determination, their hunger, and desire. We've got players at the club who've tasted success over the last couple of years and want more."
The Old Trafford side already find themselves two points off the remainder of the top four due to their home draw with Newcastle United. "We're all disappointed we didn't win... every team wants to get off to a winning start, but we did okay. Carlos [Tevez] was not there on Sunday, and Wayne [Rooney] missed a bit of pre-season."
Manchester United face Portsmouth this weekend hoping to do what they failed to do in the Community Shield - score in open play.
