West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray has cooled speculation suggesting the club have already signed Borja Valero from Real Mallorca...
The Real Madrid youth product was one of many players last season for Mallorca who hit hot form, including coming off the bench to score against his former club, and has since attracted interest from the Premier League this summer.
The midfielder was thought to have completed a move to newly promoted West Brom, who lost to Arsenal on the opening day, for a fee in the region of €6 million.
However, what would be a record signing for the club is not yet complete. "The deal is not done," declared Mowbray. "I don't want to eulogise about a player who has not signed in case it doesn't happen.
"But it is no secret we admire the player and we'd like to tie something up.
"We've watched him for a while and he has got the technical ability to help our squad."
Borja, 23, scored four goals in 35 league appearances in his first and thus far only season with Mallorca.
