Madrid Prepare Villa Bid

Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a move for prolific Valencia striker David Villa, Robinho's agent has claimed.

Madrid Prepare Villa Bid

The Spain international has been strongly linked with a summer move following his good performances at Euro 2008.

Villa's summer transfer saga seemed to be drawing to a close after his representative, José Luis Tamargo, held initial talks over a new deal with Los Che.

Tamargo was even quoted as saying that he could assure Villa's stay at Mestalla after a summer of speculation.

But now Real Madrid appear to have joined the equation, having reportedly switched their attentions to Villa after missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Robinho's agent, Wagner Ribeiro.

"I say that it is true that Real Madrid are trying to sign David Villa," Ribeiro said.

Villa has been on the radar of the Spanish capital club for quite some time now, yet the Merengues had never stepped up their interest in the Valencia man.

Valencia coach Unai Emery has indicated that he believes El Guaje will stay at Mestalla but Real Madrid's reported interest may well put on hold Villa's renewal process if Ramón Calderón offers the €50 million that Valencia are asking for their striker, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
