Samuel Eto'o will know whether or not he is staying at Barcelona next season before the club play their first official game of the season in the Champions League qualifier.
The Cameroonian striker has stated that he wants to remain with the Catalan outfit, but the club have made it clear that if they receive the right offer then he can go.
Barça are due to play Beitar Jerusalem or Wisla Krakow on August 12 and sporting director Txiki Begiristain has made assurances that whether he stays or goes will be decided by then.
"The best solution will be to have it dealt with by then," he told reporters in New York.
"The transfer market will wind down soon enough and we are in the process of working out if we will be doing any more business. We have to see at how Pep Guardiola feels about the squad."
Barcelona are due to face New York Red Bulls in their second game of the trip to the United States and surprised fans and passers-by with the first training session.
Instead of going through their paces at a sports complex or stadium, Guardiola took his player to run around Central Park in the Big Apple, with not footballs in sight.
